Dear Friends,

What a fabulous time we had last year at Willow Glen Middle and High Schools! The theatre, dance, choir, and band performances were amazing. We are incredibly grateful to the generous supporters who have helped grow the performing arts programs into what they are today.

As a supporter, you may already know that The Willow Glen Performing Arts Boosters is a group of parents, teachers, alumni and community members who believe that the performing arts are an essential part of public education. We advocate, provide volunteer support, and raise funds to ensure that thriving performing arts programs continue at Willow Glen Middle School and Willow Glen High School. Your support last year helped our mission succeed – our programs are healthy and are continuing to grow in size and quality. Just a few short years ago, performing arts played a small part in our school culture, but we are now bursting at the seams with a healthy 735 participants in performing arts programs. This could not have happened without your help. This past year, the generous Willow Glen community helped raise net proceeds of over $42,000 at our annual Crab Feast dinner and auction – a record high for the event – and additional donations helped us crack the annual fundraising level of $50,000 for the first time! During the 2014-2015 school year, we spent almost $31,600 on our programs, and have already designated the remaining funds for program enhancements this year.

Studies show that performing artists have increased self-confidence, a greater rate of graduation, better public speaking skills and even higher SAT scores! However, the entire student body benefits from these flourishing programs with heightened school pride and an increased exposure to mind-opening art forms and cultural experiences. All of our students are richer because of your support.

All of you – our generous neighbors, donors, and hard-working educators and volunteers – are responsible for creating this rich Willow Glen Middle School and High School experience. Thank you for supporting the performing arts in Willow Glen.
