Arts Summer camps 2016

Day Camp for the ArtsHi Friends,

We have finalized the plans for camps in July, benefiting the Willow Glen Performing Arts Programs at WGMS and WGHS. This year we offer Day Camp for the ARTS (grades 3-7) and WG TEEN Drama Camp “THE MUSICAL 13” (Grades 8-12). Both camps will be held at Willow Glen Middle School in the Little Theatre.

“The Musical 13”

July 5-8, 11-15, 18-22, 25-30 (Grades 8-12) 5-8 p.m.$350
Performances: WGMS Little Theatre, July 28-30. 7 p.m.

CAMP DESCRIPTION: Children will gain insight and technique in producing a teen drama production with the 3 night performance schedule at the conclusion.

WILLOW GLEN PERFORMING ARTS BOOSTERS DONATION: 50% of the tuition is donated back to WGPAB.
LEADERSHIP: Our program is developed and supervised by a retired teacher/principal. Each subject area (Music, Dance and Drama) has a highly trained Lead Teacher, as well as an experienced Director. Volunteers have been trained to assist within the various disciplines to serve, lead, and inspire our campers. They have been selected for their desire to work with children and their dedication to the performing arts.

Day Camp for the ARTS

July 18-29, 2016 M-F 9 am-2 pm (Grades 3-7) Willow Glen Middle School

PERFORMANCE:
Showcase Performance WGMS Little Theatre, Friday July 29, 1:00-2:00 pm

CAMP DESCRIPTION:
Children rotate, in grade appropriate groups, through four ART curriculum areas which include both Visual and Performing Arts (Music, Dance, Drama, and Art).

LEADERSHIP TEAM:
Program Coordinator: Develops and supervises the daily activities. She has lifetime teaching and administrative credentials, a B.A. Liberal Studies, and a M.A. Educational Administration.

Director: Oversees the performance aspects, coordinates and trains the Lead Teachers, writes, composes, and directs the Showcase Performance. She served as student director for WGHS performances, received the WGHS Velma Garcia Drama Scholarship, Notre Dame De Namur Talent Scholarship, and served as the Director for Day Camp for the ARTS for the past two years.

Lead Teachers: Subject area specialist for each discipline (Art, Drama, Dance, Music) support the Director and Program Coordinator. They work directly with students implementing the curriculum to provide a quality program. Experience as past Lead Teacher or volunteer with Day Camp for the Arts preferred.

Volunteers: WG Middle and High School Performing Arts students trained to assist within the various disciplines to serve, lead, and inspire our campers, under the guidance of the Lead Teachers and Director. Selected for their desire to work with children and their dedication to the performing arts.
